Volkswagen plant ultrakompakten ID.1 – Der Nachfolger des Up?

Volkswagen plans to introduce a new, ultra -compact electric car that could become known as ID.1 and may be inherited in the VW Up. Planned for 2027, ID.1 should start with a number of new compact models of the Volkswagen Group, which will also include derivatives of Skoda, Cupra and Seat.

ID.1 will be based on a newly developed platform and should have a list price of around 20,000 euros. The focus is on functionality and cost -effective production, which is why advanced driver assistance systems will probably be eliminated. Instead, the interior will be designed for versatility, possibly with a smartphone connection-based infotainment system.

ID.1 is designed for city traffic with an estimated range of 250-300 km and a compact battery of approx. 40 kWh. Volkswagen sees ID.1 as a strategic model to win younger customers and tie them to the brand in the long term.
