Usually the cover plate is attached with various clips in front of the trailer coupling and only removed with a tool such as a plastic wedge or if necessary a screwdriver. In practice, this is annoying and time -consuming.
This adapter is simply glued to the plate and then sticks it to the vehicle magnetically. So losing weight is much easier - but the plate also maintains fast driving and bumps, as strong neodymium magnets ensure a strong hold.
In Tesla, 2x types of cover plates are used (depending on the year of construction and factory) - they are available with a grid made of squares and with a flat surface. Our adapter fits both.
- If you have the plate with the grid, the adhesive pads fit exactly into this grid and you can stick the adapter directly onto the plate in the middle and press firmly. Clean the plate thoroughly beforehand and let it dry.
- If you have the plate with the flat surface, instead insert the adapter into the vehicle and then press the plate in the opening on it. So you also meet the correct position. Clean the plate thoroughly beforehand and let it dry.
In any case, the clips on the holding plate should be partially/completely removed. You can carefully do this with a side cutter, cutter or other tools. This change is not reversible!
- With the clips in the form of a "D", only the inner part has to be removed
- With the clips in the form of a rectangle, the whole clip should be removed.
Note: The adapter is intentionally decentrated - i.e. asymmetrical, since the absorption of the trailer coupling is also not centered centered behind the plate.
